I Totally Saw This Coming

With all this swinging vampire popularity it was only a matter of time before zombies had their 15 minutes of fame. Oh and look. That time is now. We’ve got “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,“The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks” and PopCaps new downloadable casual game “Plants and Zombies” in which a team of zombies goes head to head with some plants (what!?). Hell, even up-and-coming musician, Gavin Castleton, has written an album based on a zombie flick.

I can take the mental leap of a pop culture evolution from one dark fictional creature to another, but I think we need to acknowledge the fatal flaw with zombies. Simply stated, there’s no sex in zombie. Zombies are socially awkward and really gross. So, good luck at the box office without that dashing Edward Cullen type. Heh.

What does the future hold in the way of supernatural pop-culture trends? I’m calling this now. You heard it here first. Leprechauns will be the next big thing. That’s right. Leprechauns.

Public Art vs. Wildposting Ads

by Rachel Timmerman at 8:54 am 3 Comments

If some hippy artist were to tell me that he’s involved in a public art program that involved covering up Wildposting campaigns in NYC I’d probably be secretly happy deep down in the core of my true being. Socialization thorough art trumps big corporate marketing agenda any day in my book. Even if it means that my industry would have to suffer this one loss of prominent ad space in the country’s #1 media market.

Given this sacrificial sentiment, you can imagine my level of disappointment when this public art project was completed and all the art turns out to be crappy. Like so crappy, that I’d rather look at ads.

Kinda like this.
